What’s a webtext?
A webtext is an online, interactive textbook. Unlike other e-books, webtexts aren’t flat. They include embedded elements like multiple-choice questions, response boards, polls, videos, quizzes, and other assessments. Many people also use the term “courseware” to describe this type of learning resource.

How are Soomo webtexts different from other texts?
Soomo webtexts cost less and work better than traditional texts. Each webtext is streamlined to deliver the content students need in a modern, distraction-free platform that makes it easy to focus on what’s important. Interactive questions on every page keep students engaged with the reading and support learning.
Webtexts integrate with your LMS seamlessly to provide single sign-on access and score delivery. Plus, each title allows faculty to tailor the contents to match their course syllabus, personalize the webtext with our Shared Notes feature, and track student progress and performance with Analytics. Soomo Messenger provides built-in human support for both students and faculty.

You can find the price of each webtext on its catalog page.
Can Soomo integrate with my LMS?
We sure can! Every webtext supports single sign-on access and gradebook integration with all major LMS platforms using LTI 1.3, including Canvas, Blackboard, BrightSpace, and Moodle. Scores for student work in the webtext are automatically synced to your LMS gradebook.
You can see our 1EdTech certification that marks us as a trusted app for LMS integration.
Do Soomo webtexts meet accessibility standards?
Yes! We develop all content and tools to meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards to ensure universal access for students using assistive technology.
For more information, check out our Accessibility page.
Can the reading be assigned for credit?
Yes! We strongly encourage instructors to assign the webtext for credit. In a case study, we found that assigning the reading for course credit increased student engagement from 12% to 85% in back-to-back sessions taught by the same professor at an R1 public institution.
Read our one-pager for more information about the case study.
How does Soomo support my teaching?
Soomo is built around supporting you and helping your students succeed. We provide:
Aligned instructor resources: Each webtext comes with resources like lecture slides, a test bank, and instructor guides that are aligned with the webtext content, saving you time and making it easier to plan your course.
Better student engagement: Because webtexts include embedded questions designed to be assigned for credit, students arrive to class more engaged and prepared. In one study, assigning the webtext for credit increased engagement by 73%.
Analytics: Our Analytics tool shows you where students are struggling and which ones are falling behind, helping you target your teaching and plan effective class time.
